ONE TO ONE Falconry experience in beautiful Shropshire

Experience a Falconry Day with Chris and his magnificent birds of prey in the beautiful Shropshire hills and countryside.

The Falconry Experience commences with coffee/tea and biscuits whilst watching interesting clips of Chris’s birds and some of his wildlife conservation work undertaken throughout the world.

This is followed by an introduction to the birds, then handling and flying some of them including the European Eagle Owl, the largest owl in the world. Watch close up as Chris puts on some spectacular flying displays with his falcons in the surrounding countryside.

During the breeding season there is a chance to help with the feeding of some of the young chicks such as Ferruginous Hawks, Gyr x Sakers and Harris Hawks - and there are plenty of photo opportunities. There is then a short break for a snack lunch, which is included in the price.

The afternoon is spent out on a Hawk Walk in the local countryside where students will get plenty of opportunity to handle and fly a bird. On your hawk walk you may well be lucky enough to see wild Peregrine Falcons, Buzzards, Kestrels, Sparrowhawks, Goshawks, Merlins, Hobbys and Red Kites - depending on the time of year - and also many other smaller species of birds such as the Nuthatch, Stonechat ,Wheatear, Woodpecker and, during April, you might be lucky enough to see migrating Ring Ouzels. We have permission to go and see the local Peregrine eerie throughout the breeding season - another good photo opportunity!
